HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS FOUCS
FULL-TIME (40+ hours/weekly), EXEMPT
Position Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist with an Employee Relations Focus will play a crucial role in supporting employee engagement, resolving conflicts, and promoting a positive work environment within the organization. This role will involve collaborating closely with employees, managers, and HR leadership to address employee relations issues, implement HR policies and procedures, and drive initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and retention. The HR Generalist is entrusted with a significant amount of confidential information and must maintain the highest standard of discretion with regard to that information. This position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.
Essential Functions:
Employee Relations:
Serve as a primary contact point, along with the HR Supervisor, for employee relations matters, providing guidance and support to employees and managers on many issues.
Investigate and resolve employee complaints, conflicts, and grievances in a timely and effective manner, ensuring adherence to Blakes Lotaburgers policies and applicable laws.
Conduct thorough and impartial investigations, document findings, and recommend appropriate corrective actions when necessary to HR Leadership.
Employee Engagement and Retention:
Work with HR Leadership to develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Collaborate with departmental managers to identify and address factors impacting employee morale and productivity.
Research and suggest employee recognition programs, events, and initiatives to promote a positive and inclusive work culture.
Performance Management Support:
Assist in the administration of the performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews, and feedback sessions.
Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on performance-related matters, including coaching, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary actions as needed.
HR Policy and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations, including EEO, ADA, FMLA, and FLSA.
Partner with HR Supervisor and Benefits Specialist, in the administration of FMLA/Informal Leave and ADA accommo
Aid in the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Conduct periodic audits to ensure consistency and compliance with HR policies and practices.
Assist in updating departmental standard operating procedures to ensure productivity and consistency within the HR department.
Update employee policies and procedures, as necessary.
HR Administration and Reporting:
Manage HR administrative tasks, such as employee data management, personnel file maintenance, employment verifications, and HRIS updates.
Prepare reports and analytics on HR metrics, trends, and employee relations activities to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

3-5 years of progressive experience in HUMAN RESOURCES, with a focus on employee relations. Combination of education and experience will be considered
HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and federal, state, and local employment laws.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with employees at all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to remain objective and impartial in difficult situations.
Requirements (Education/Training/Experience/Abilities):
Must possess a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must be highly detailed oriented, organized, self-disciplined, and a results-oriented team player.
Excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics
Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative
Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment
Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn applicable platforms related to job responsibilities.

Must possess strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to read/write/speak in English
Bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation

Ability to maintain and build trust; protect and preserve confidential information along with high attention to detail
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, including a motor vehicle record search.
Essential Physical/Emotional Requirements:
Must be able to occasionally stand/walk for extended periods of time
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
Must be able to talk and hear
Must be able to climb, bend and stoop
Must be able to lift/move up to 25 pounds unassisted
Must be able to type and look at a computer screen for extended periods of time
Must be able to tolerate a reasonable amount of stress. Ability to multitask and work under stressful conditions in a quick service restaurant environment
Must be able to handle difficult and/or sensitive situations using tactful, appropriate, and effective communication
