SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Generalist performs a variety of day-to-day responsibilities to support the organization in areas of talent acquisition, leave of absence and workers compensation administration, employee and labor relations, talent and performance management, and company policy and procedure enforcement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; workers compensation; and training and development.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices (EEO, FMLA, FLSA, etc.); assists in the review of policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Identifies and implements efficient and effective sourcing strategies to build pipelines of potential applicants, such as employer branding initiatives. Sources applicants through online channels (LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.) and other professional networks.
  • Ensures proper applicant records are maintained to ensure compliance with the Company's Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Collaborates with the hiring manager and/other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
  • Assists with the recruitment, interviews, and hiring of qualified job applicants for open hourly positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts employment pre-screening; administers new hire on-boarding and orientation
  • Provides personnel guidance and procedure to employees and managers.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Administers leave of absence policies including but not limited to FMLA and Short-Term Disability requests; assists with Worker Compensation and return to work requirements.
  • Attends, participates, and ensures proper follow up with employee corrective actions, terminations, and grievances.
  • Performs proper investigation and follow up disciplinary action in response to harassment, discrimination, or instances of violence within the workplace; with oversight and consultation with the Human Resources manager as required.
  • Conducts stay interviews and exit interviews.
  • Responds to unemployment claims and represent Company at unemployment hearings.
  • Maintains status changes in the HRIS system, validates timecards, makes corrections, and ensures proper pay.

  • Assists with the talent and performance management process as needed.
  • Assists with open enrollments and training of employee benefits as needed.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments as needed.

  • Familiarity with recruitment on social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) and web-based recruitment sites (Indeed, Glassdoor, Ladders, CareerBuilder, and LinkedIn Talent Solutions, etc.), and other professional networks.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of FMLA, ADA, and EEO laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of 3 years Human Resources experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS/OTHER:
  • Work Hours/Status: Full Time, Salary-Exempt, 40+ hours per week, Monday - Friday
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required.
  • The job works in a normal office environment with no undue exposure to noise, dust, odors, drafts, etc.
  • Sitting/standing, free to move around, some repetitive movements (i.e. keyboarding).
  • Sustained visual concentration on numbers, policy documents, etc. while viewing small areas such as monitors and small screens.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law, compliance, trends, new technologies and best practices in areas of responsibilities.
