Job Description
A Human Resources Generalist may be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
The successful applicant will be involved in all facets of the Human Resources Function. Responsibilities may include maintaining personnel and medical files, interviewing, checking references, obtaining background checks, compiling information for government reports, auditing various data, managing annual projects, coordinating workers’ compensation claims, tracking FMLA, assisting with employee benefits, reviewing contracts, composing discipline and termination letters, protesting and appealing unemployment claims, assisting employees with questions in person and via phone and/or email, managing and delegating projects, and the ability to lead a team.
(S)he will need to be a self-starter and able to work without direct supervision.
The successful applicant will need to be able to work well with others and coordinate activities with other departments and locations within the company.
(S)he will be required to operate and be proficient with personal computers. This will include, but not be limited to, Word processing, Microsoft Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
(S)he will be required to sit and stand for long periods of time. (S)he will be required to stoop, bend, and reach above the head and below the knees to file and retrieve data.
The following qualifications are preferred:
- Previous experience in the Human Resources field
- Experience with Project Management
- College Degree in a related field
The following qualifications are required:
- Proficient computer skills
- Strong Excel skills including, but not limited to, creating and formatting spreadsheets, using formulas and functions to manage large datasets (IF, SUM, INDEX, MATCH, VLOOKUP), and create charts/graphs
- The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Strong letter-writing skills
- Proficient with and enjoy detailed work
- Display the ability to lead a team and delegate
- The desire to work well with your team and others
- To be coachable and be willing to learn
The Human Resources Generalist is a salaried-exempt position and reports to the Human Resources Manager.
