We are seeking a skilled and experienced HR Generalist to join our plaintiff's personal injury law firm. As an HR Generalist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our Human Resources functions. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of relevant HR experience, an understanding of HR best practices, and a commitment to maintaining a positive and productive work environment for our staff.

We are open to resumes with experience of 3-5 years in a lower capacity role, ie HR coordinator.

This position can be based out of either of our Chicago offices, but will involve visiting both.

Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, and conducting initial screenings.
  • Coordinate interviews and communicate with candidates to schedule interviews and provide relevant information.
  • Conduct new hire orientations and facilitate the onboarding process, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, benefits, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to the fostering of a positive and inclusive work environment through employee engagement initiatives.

HR Administration:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, both electronically and in physical files.
  • Prepare and distribute HR-related documents, including employment contracts, offer letters, and performance evaluation forms.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Support benefits administration by assisting employees with enrollment, changes, and inquiries related to health, dental, retirement, and other benefits.
  • Assist in the annual compensation review process by gathering data and preparing relevant reports.

Compliance and Policies:

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

Performance Management:

  • Assist in the performance management process by tracking performance reviews and providing support to managers.
  • Help monitor and document employee performance and progress.

Employee Offboarding:

  • Manage the offboarding process, including exit interviews and necessary paperwork.

Special Projects:

  • Contribute to HR-related projects and initiatives aimed at improving overall HR processes and the employee experience.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a HR generalist capacity
  • Understanding of HR principles, practices, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Paylocity is a plus. Microsoft Office Suite experience is a must.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
