Job Description
KBC is seeking candidates for the position of HR Generalist, Safety & Wellness. This role will administer related programs across the organization, providing guidance, communication, and support. It will be responsible for the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), OSHA compliance, recordkeeping, internal audits, training content, and all other activities necessary to maintain a safe and productive workplace. The position will also administer the Company's wellness program, platform, and related initiatives, and serves as back-up for other HR team members. Reports to the Vice President, Human Resources, and will be based at our Lexington, KY headquarters. Schedule is 8a to 5p Monday - Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends.
Core Responsibilities:
- Promotes a workplace safety culture by providing internal education and guidance, effectively responding to employee feedback, and collaborating with managers and stakeholders to identify and resolve potential risks.
- Assumes role of primary contact for HR interactions and processes related to the COVID-19 pandemic; communicates precautions and info, handles absence tracking, testing requests, return to work approvals, and vaccination initiatives, providing guidance to employees and managers.
- Responsible for the development and revision of procedures and training content; reviews and approves Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Oversees accident reporting and Workers’ Compensation claims; tracks events in incident portal to generate, submit, and/or post OSHA logs information.
- Maintains Exposure Control Plans and Hepatitis B vaccination program.
- Assists with security and crisis response plan projects.
- Performs internal evaluation of safety functions, consistently analyzes incident data, and suggests continuous improvement measures.
- Partners with HR team and managers in reviewing and finding solutions to requests for ergonomic support and/or reasonable accommodation.
- Monitors information from government agencies and other resources to remain apprised of legislative updates and best practices; pursues continuing education to maintain and utilize a strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Oversees wellness program; monitors steps related to requirements for insurance premium discounts, administers system, and develops and executes related initiatives and incentives.
- Maintains a general knowledge of HR department functions and compliance requirements, serving as back-up and participating in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or Occupational Safety preferred; appropriate combination of experience and education with high school diploma/equivalent and applicable knowledge, required.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of related workplace safety and OSHA compliance experience.
- Completion of OSHA 30-Hour course required within 6 months of employment (KBC to provide).
- Excellent written skills, with attention to detail, the ability to effectively develop content, and to execute and administer business processes, are essential.
- Must have strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact well at all levels of the organization.
- Must be tech-savvy with high MS Office proficiency, and have the ability to easily learn and navigate web applications.
- Must reside in the Lexington, KYarea, and have a valid driver’s license; periodic travel to all KBC locations is required.
