Position: HR Generalist

About the role:

The HR Generalist will provide support to the HR Director through involvement in all functional areas of the HR department with the emphasis being in recruiting, onboarding/offboarding, employee relations, benefit/leave administration, HRIS data entry, and payroll. This role will be hands-on and employee-focused providing multi-location support.

What you will be doing:

  • Build productive relationships with employees across all levels of the company.
  • Process hourly and salary payroll on a weekly basis.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring and onboarding of hourly manufacturing and distribution staff. Assist with the recruitment of other roles in the organization as needed.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support for all health and benefit plans, including but not limited to enrollments and terminations, changes, and disability claims.
  • Responsible for all data maintenance of new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, and changes in pay.
  • Compiling and maintaining personnel records within regulatory guidelines.
  • Create/prepare reports and analysis using the HR information systems, and other software, as required.
  • Manage all employee leave of absence programs, including FMLA and short-term disability, in compliance with leave-related laws and regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Enjoyment of wearing many hats is necessary.

What you need:

  • A minimum of 3 years of professional Human Resource experience, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Previous payroll experience
  • Previous experience administering leaves of absence, including FMLA
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and related software systems
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS system (Paylocity)
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills to varied audiences, and stakeholder groups
  • Must be thorough with a strong sense of attention to detail and the ability to follow through
  • Desire to learn, seek new challenges and to take on additional responsibilities
  • Demonstrated independent problem solving skills and the ability to implement solutions quickly
  • Ability to navigate and manage complexity and ambiguity
  • Capable of multi-tasking and working on several projects at one time
  • Proven ability to build internal relationships and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Must be resourceful and initiative-taking
  • Ability to maintain and adhere to strict confidentiality standards
  • Demonstrated sound and dependable work ethic
  • Must be willing to travel as needed

  • The candidate will be required to work onsite. This is not a remote or hybrid position. Relocation is not being offered with this position.
