Job Description
KBC is seeking a detail-oriented, motivated professional with a passion for assisting others to join the Human Resources team at Kentucky Blood Center. The HR Generalist, Employee Support, will be responsible for providing high-level HR service to the organization while upholding our mission and values.
The position reports to the Vice President, Human Resources, and will oversee and support HR programs and functions such as (but not limited to) the following:
- Benefits & Compensation Management: Full cycle administration of all insurance carriers, 401(k) retirement plan, and wellness program. Involved in related compliance, participant education, and service; oversight of annual open enrollment, billing, and COBRA processes. Monitors compensation structure, practices, and market surveys.
- Employee Onboarding: Responsible for complete New Hire process, which includes job offers, pre-employment screening, and documentation. Helps acclimate new employees by conducting biweekly orientation meetings, and training them about the organization.
- HRIS & Records Management: HRIS administration, data entry, document scanning, record retention and conversion processes.
- HR Reporting: Proactively develops and maintains reports on HR metrics and regulatory compliance, as well as routine monthly data tracking; utilizes tools such as ADP, Excel, and other HR portals at an expert level to analyze, format, and submit data.
- Leave Administration: Family & Medical Leave certification, time-off tracking, disability claims, work status, and internal communication, partnership with HR Safety Coordinator.
- Event Coordination: Assists in the planning and delivery of employee events such as ordering and overseeing catered meals, organizing wellness screening sessions, recognition programs, and other activities.
- Customer Service: Responds to a variety of employee requests in a prompt and caring manner, consulting with the HR team where applicable and taking ownership in finding solutions to unique challenges; continuously seeks to enhance and automate HR processes.
- Clerical: Responsible for special projects and other duties, as assigned; provides back-up support for HR Generalist, Compliance and Recruitment.
Two years of HR experience (with focus on benefits, HRIS, and corresponding areas), and a related degree (HR, Business Administration, Accounting) highly preferred; high school diploma or equivalent with the appropriate combination of education and experience is required. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative and analytical skills, exhibit a polite and courteous demeanor, and will demonstrate the ability to remain organized while balancing diverse priorities. Must have proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and the ability to navigate and learn web-based applications and proprietary systems. Experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus. Proof of education required during the interview process. Must be located in the Central Kentucky area. Monday-Friday schedule during business hours with some evenings and weekends, and on-call/email monitoring rotation.
