Job Description
Position Summary:
The Director of Human Resources provides leadership and guidance to the organization’s operations related to Human Resources (HR). Hiland Dairy operations include eighteen manufacturing plants and fifty-eight distribution branches. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for evaluating and enforcing Human Resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing strategic talent management goals.
The Director of Human Resources reports to the Senior Director of Human Resources and directly oversees the roles of Senior Human Resources Manager and Human Resources Generalist.
General Job Duties:
- Collaborates with Sr. Director of Human Resources and leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Assists with the administration of Human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
- Analyze staffing and recruiting needs companywide; evaluates and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices.
- Oversees multiple locations and their adherence to policies and procedures, including reviewing and approving corrective action recommendations.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to assess changes in policy, practice, and resources.
- Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR team members companywide.
- Assists with negotiations, compliance, and grievances related to Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Performs other duties as required.
Department Management:
- Recruits, interviews, and hires management level team members.
- Assist and oversee team member training.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Oversee initiatives to provide positive department morale.

Education and Experience:
- At least five years of Human resource management experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, preferred.
- PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, preferred.
This position is not remote; it is located at the General Office in Springfield, Missouri.
