Facilities/Construction Manager HBLL
Job Summary
This position has primary responsibility for the physical facilities of a 728,507 sq. ft. building and is the project manager for all remodeling projects. The Facilities Manager resolves daily, complex issues related to space, office and public furnishings, and safety, and participates in strategic planning for future use of space for patrons, collections, and employees. The position also works cooperatively with University Security personnel in resolving security issues.
What you'll do in this position:
- Takes responsibility for the successful completion of all remodel projects in the library
- Participates with library administration in long-term strategic planning for physical facilities improvements
- Handles complex or problematic requests from library employees related to physical facility needs or issues
- Stays abreast of trends and best practices through appropriate professional development activities
- Approves major projects involving relocation of furniture or shelving including locating or purchasing additional furniture or shelving if needed
- Oversees general condition of library physical facilities and initiates major projects to improve environment for patrons and employees
What qualifies you for this role:
Required:
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities, Construction, Business Management, or other related field, and 2 years of experience in library, construction, or facilities management OR an equivalent combination of related education and/or experience
- Advanced knowledge of facilities management processes, principles, and methods
- Knowledge of construction methods, tools, and practices
- In depth knowledge of accessibility, safety, and building codes
Preferred:
- 5 years of experience in construction or facilities management
- Experience working in an academic library

Physical Exam Details: Physical effort represented by frequent handling of medium weight objects (approx. 20-50 lbs.) and materials, or use of medium weight hand tools. May require climbing and working from ladders or in awkward positions. Examples include:
- May need to lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs, 1 hour, up to 2 times a month
- May need to help relocate furniture (desks, bookshelves, card catalogs, etc.), 30 min to 4 hours, up to 2 times a month
- May need to help assemble, disassemble, or transport shelving, 30 min to 4 hours, up to 2 times a month
- May need to use pallet jacks, flatbed carts, or hand trucks to transport large/heavy objects to various places in the building (depending on student availability and staff need), 30 min to 4 hours, up to 2 times a month
- May need to use the forklift, 30 min to 2 hours, several times a month

Approximate Starting Salary: $69,000 - $89,500, depending on qualifications (pay frequency: monthly)
