ASSISTANT FACILITIES

MANAGER/JOURNEYMAN HVAC TECHNICIAN

SALARY: GRADE: 12 $26.97 - $38.33 hourly; wage will be dependent upon education and experience.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, performs a variety of technical skilled duties related to planning, organizing, directing, and performing facility maintenance and operations.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

(These examples are not all-inclusive)

• Operates, manages, monitors, and performs preventive maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems at all city facilities
• Monitor and adjust the heating, cooling, and security systems via computer
• Be familiar with facility security policies; ensure proper operation and function of various security access systems; maintenance of alarm systems such as fire, backup lighting, elevators, power, etc.
• Responds to system alarms, determines nature and extent of emergency, and resolves problems as needed
• Oversees and monitors work projects; acts as a lead worker
• Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and paper goods for all facilities, including facilities in city-owned parks
• May repair and perform custodial duties in the interior of all city-owned buildings
• May operate passenger van to transport senior citizens to and from recreational activities
• Removes snow and ice from city-owned facilities and sidewalks
• Participates in on-call rotation, responding to after-hour calls
• Assume other responsibilities and complete other tasks as requested

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required
• Certification or specialized training in HVAC required
• 5+ years' experience in HVAC is required
• 5+ years' facilities maintenance in electrical, carpentry, plumbing, or roofing is required
• 2+ years' experience in computerized system maintenance
• Type "Universal Refrigerant" handler's certification
• Gas technician certification
• Custodial experience preferred
• Current Utah Driver's License with a good driving record
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Good skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook required
• Must have good skills with email and internet
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays when needed

• Excellent time management skills required
• Positive attitude and ability to work with a variety of different people at various levels

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test, a background screen, and a current Utah driver's license with good driving history, and provide employment verification with form I-9. This position has a six-month probation period.
