TheBoiler Operatorwill Operate or maintain boilers, or other mechanical equipment to provide utilities for buildings or industrial processes. Operate equipment, such as water and steam boilers.
Responsibilities
- Support the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and attention to the adherence to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
- This position has been designated as Mission Critical. Mission Critical personnel are defined as those required to meet the Installation’s safety (including inclement weather) and security needs during lockdown conditions.
- Will be a team member on an Emergency Management team such as the CBRNE/HAZMAT Technical team or other team(s) as required by the company to meet contract requirements.
- Operate or tend boilers, and auxiliary equipment such as pumps and air-conditioning equipment, in order to supply and maintain steam or heat for buildings.
- Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts registering various aspects of boiler operation, in order to ensure that boilers are operating properly.
- Activate valves to maintain required amounts of water in boilers, to adjust supplies of combustion air, and to control the flow of fuel into burners.
- Monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels, and make adjustments to maintain required levels.
- Maintain daily logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, instrument readings, and details of equipment malfunctions.
- First response to emergency calls after hours.
- Performs other tasks as directed by supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years of training involving both on-the-job experience, work-related skill, knowledge, or experience and informal training with experienced workers.
- Posses a valid state driver’s license and be deemed insurable under company policy.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to read, write and receive written and/or verbal instructions in English.
- Ability to communicate with military and civilian customers on a professional basis.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
- Ability to lift or move up to 75 pounds.

- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers.
