Job Title
Director-Nebraska Business Development Center
Nature of Work
Provides business consulting to business owners or startups, one-on-one or in small groups, in the areas of business planning, loan packaging, marketing, operations management, financial planning, general business practices and others. Prepares and submits reports as needed.
Examples of Work Performed
1. Responsible for managing the small business consulting assistance program of Northeast and Northcentral regions for the Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC)
2. Meeting the obligations of the Nebraska Small Business Development Center (SBDC) cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration
A. Meeting NBDC Key Performance Indicators (KPI) goals
B. Providing direct consulting assistance to owners and potential owners of small businesses
C. Developing and maintaining relationships with NBDC stakeholders
D. Cooperating with others as part of the NBDC team of consultants
E. Developing and delivering training programs which may be in conjunction with other NBDC consultants, including APEX Accelerator consultants, exporting consultants, technology commercialization consultants, and other NBDC team members or partner organizations
F. Promoting NBDC by making oral and written presentations to local, regional, and statewide economic development gatherings, service clubs, chambers of commerce, and other community organizations
G. Promoting NBDC programs/services by having personal relationships with banks and economic developers
H. Participating in workshops and conferences coordinated with other local, regional, or statewide organizations and agencies
3. Collecting and recording client information in Customer Relations Database, Neoserra
A. Preparing and submitting all required data
B. Preparing and submit success stories as assigned by the SBDC State Director
4. Maintaining professional credentials, submitting annual professional development, and other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or in a related field
- Certification as an Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) credential is required within two years of employment date
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or related Master's degree
- Prior successful business ownership or two years prior business consulting experience or other economic development experience

Salary Information
Competitive, commensurate with qualifications & experience. Attractive & comprehensive fringe benefit package. Annual salary range is $55,000 - $65,000.

The position will require travel to businesses and clients in the Northeast and Northcentral regions of Nebraska. The primary office location for this position is in Gardner Hall at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.
