SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the resolution of personal auto claims in accordance with regulatory guidelines and company best practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Upon receipt, reviews each claim file to identify and establish a prompt investigation of coverage, liability, and damages.
· Properly documents and manages all aspects of the file during the life of a claim (investigation, correspondence, negotiation, and settlement).
· Investigates questions on coverage under a reservation of rights and advises the Underwriting Department of adverse findings.
· Oversees assigned claims in accordance with the policy contract, internal best practices, industry standards, Fair Claim Practices, regulatory guidelines, applicable case law, and jurisdictional requirements.
· Communicates timely and professionally with insureds, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, and other carriers via telephone and written correspondence to set expectations, explain rationale behind decisions made, and negotiate settlements as appropriate through resolution.
· Responsible for the completion of property and unrepresented injury evaluations to determine reasonable and related costs.
· Works within settlement authority; submits requests to management for authority to negotiate, settle, accept, or deny claims when appropriate.
· Alerts claims management of potentially suspicious claims, notification of lawsuits, time limited demands, or any allegation of a deceptive trade practices violation or bad faith.
· Maintains claims systems exposures, adequate reserves, and proper cause codes.
· Manages claim documents, diary, and voicemail timely.
· Recognizes recovery potential and submits referrals when applicable.
· Provides an exemplary claims experience to insureds and claimants.
· Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or two to four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
· Ability to secure and maintain adjuster license(s) for assigned states within 90 days of hire.
Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite; previous experience using web-based claims system interfaces (OSIS ‘Oakwood Systems’ a plus)
