The Arc of Pennsylvania is seeking to fill the position of Government Relations and Health Initiatives Manager. The position would be in our office in Lemoyne Pennsylvania and would report directly to our Executive Director. The position coordinates and implements the legislative and public policy priorities for our membership and local chapters while also promoting the welfare and public health for individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities through specific initiatives, policy, and advocacy.
Candidates should have:
· Bachelor’s degree, Masters is preferred, in Public Health or Policy
· Minimum 3 years’ experience with state government, general assembly, public health or public policy
· Knowledge of state legislature, legislative and regulatory processes and state agencies
· Experience with Intellectual and Developmental Disability Community preferred but not mandatory
Main Position Responsibilities:
· Keep informed and up to date on PA initiatives, issues, legislation concerning or that will affect those with intellectual and developmental disabilities by attending legislative hearings, researching legislation, and reading updates from multiple news media outlets
· Remain current on state and federal disability related issues in public health.
· Establish and maintain relationships with members of PA State Government at all levels, both staff, and members of the General Assembly and House and Senate Committees
· Assist in the development of Health Initiatives and the Disability Health Action Network
· Develop written advocacy materials, assist in drafting press releases and other written materials as directed
· Facilitate and coordinate key messages for membership and local chapters, including budget advocacy and legislative priorities.
· Be an information source for government and private entities on The Arc of PA’s mission and positions
· Budget preparation- questions and issues for Budget Hearings
· Lobby on behalf of the priority issues of The Arc of PA
· Liaison to various Stakeholder Organizations- State Task Force, State Interagency Coordinating Council, Policy and Information Exchange (PIE), Special Education Communication Council- prepare and present Legislative Updates and the current work of The Arc of PA
· Draft, jointly with the Communications Position, The Arc of PA’s newsletter
· Represent The Arc of PA at stakeholder meetings
· Research, write, and submit grant proposals relevant to The Arc of Pennsylvania’s work.

· Comfortable/knowledgeable in presentations to elected officials both state, federal and local level, testimonies, and public speaking
