JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Facilities Management is accountable for the management, operations, and financial performance of Engineering and Plant Operations, including the ongoing maintenance and repair of the buildings, mechanical/electrical systems, equipment and grounds, and for the provision of a safe working environment for buildings. The Director provides leadership, direction and supervision of the organization’s physical plant(s), maintenance, grounds, compliance and safety. The Director has significant input into compliance with the Environment of Care standards of the Joint Commission, assessment of the organization’s compliance with Life Safety Codes and updating of the Maintenance Policies and Procedures. He/she is responsible for organizing and directing programs to maintain the facilities, equipment and grounds in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with federal, state and local regulations, and established policies and procedures. The Director is responsible for preventative maintenance and coordination of unscheduled maintenance of all hospital and affiliated buildings and equipment, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC systems. He/she is responsible for supporting the day-to-day business, special projects, and maintenance program operations that includes Hospital, Ambulatory Clinics and Business locations, and representing Facilities/Engineering in meetings. He/she also provides recommendations, insights, reports and data that influence the decision-making of executive leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public health or engineering required OR eight (8) years of experience in facility maintenance/management industry or directly related experience.
- Professional designation such as CFM, CHFM or CHOP required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in managing healthcare facilities is required.
- Demonstrated experience developing operational standards, policies and practices which contribute to organizational efficiencies and effectiveness is required.
- Experience in the management of building systems and possess knowledge of advanced building engineering principles, especially as they relate to the medical care environment required.
- Background in facility management, construction management and project management required.
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in plant operations, maintenance, renovation and related activities required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting required.
- CFM, CHFM, or CHOP required.
