Job Summary


The central Human Resources HR Department, which serves the patient care, teaching, and research missions of the health system, consults with leadership and management on total compensation programs and initiatives. Reporting to the UCDH Compensation Manager, is technical leader and team lead with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues/problems, some without precedent and/or structure. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. Collaborates with Compensation Analysts and technicians, manager, other HR professionals and Davis Health leadership on projects and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Compensation Analyst 3

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field (e.g., Human Resource Management, Business Administration) and/or equivalent work experience or training.
  • Two or more years of current or recent work experience as operational level Compensation analyst or specialist.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of compensation, job evaluation theory and practices, law and legislation.
  • Knowledge to develop and implement compensation programs for client group and understand how they and other initiatives may impact various areas of HR.
  • General knowledge of employment law and other areas of HR.
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to conduct analysis and develop data-based recommendations.

Compensation Analyst 4

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (Human Resource Management, Business Administration) and/or equivalent training and experience is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years or more of recent and progressively responsible work experience as operational level or senior level Compensation Analyst or specialist
  • General knowledge of employment law and other areas of HR.
  • Applies advanced compensation concepts to analyze and develop the organization’s compensation programs, including management of salaries, recognition programs, cash and non-cash bonus plans and other forms of total rewards. Demonstrated extensive and comprehensive knowledge of job evaluation (classification) theory, processes and practices, compensation practices, law and legislation.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience to develop and implement compensation programs for client group and understand how they and other initiatives may impact various areas of HR.
  • Demonstrated skills in utilizing a variety of software programs for data and information manipulation, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Human Capital Management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Compensation Analyst 3

  • Compensation Professional (CCP) Certification
  • Valid CA Driver’s License
  • Experience utilizing PeopleSoft or similar Human Resources Information Systems
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry, higher education, and unionized environment

Compensation Analyst 4

  • Compensation Professional (CCP) Certification
  • Master’s degree in related field (Human Resource Management, Business Administration)
  • Demonstrated past University work experience and/or healthcare industry and unionized environment
  • Extensive experience and skill utilizing PeopleSoft or similar Human Resources Information Systems

  • Salary or Pay Range: Compensation Analyst 3: $80,300.00 - $113,900.00; Compensation Analyst 4: $88,100.00 - $166,600.00.

Special Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License and/or ability to accommodate occasional transportation needs as work requires.
  • Must be willing to work occasional overtime to meet deadlines and complete projects and assignments. May travel between Sacramento and Davis locations as well as Office of the President in Oakland as needed.
  • This position is a critical position and subject to a background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history and identity checks.
