Promotor Comunitario (PT, Multiple Worksites, Bilingual)

Position Status: Regular, Part Time (20 hrs. per week)

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Regional Program Manager, the Promotor Comunitario will collaborate with the Keck School of Medicine of USC (“USC”) and Kaiser Permanente to implement a 42-month research study that will assist at least 180 Latino families with grocery shopping and food delivery to reduce risk factors for chronic diseases and improve the health of all family members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Successfully complete training provided by both Visión y Compromiso and Kaiser Permanente in accordance with the study guidelines.
• Implement the pilot project with an estimated 18 families in the assigned region including grocery shopping and weekly food delivery of ingredients (or as needed) based on the prepared recipes.
• Sorting and organizing food items to prepare for delivery.
• Maintain consistent and constant communication with the Project Coordinator regarding all activities assigned.
• Attend all scheduled meetings with the project team, as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION

There is no minimum educational requirement.

EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of one (1) years of experience working with monolingual and/or bilingual Latino communities
• A minimum of one (1) years of experience conducting outreach and providing community health awareness.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS

Valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize a reliable alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions. Valid automobile liability insurance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, groups, and the public. Ability to complete reports and write business correspondence. A bilingual candidate in Spanish and English is required.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Basic computer skills for the purpose of sending and receiving emails, and calendar scheduling as well as completing basic reports for internal business tracking.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to travel locally within the assigned region as required. The ability to travel to multiple locations in one day is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee will sit, talk, hear and use hands up to 10% of the time. The employee will be driving/traveling 40% of the time. The employee will stand 30% of the time and walk up to 20% of the time.
