JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Child Support Supervisor, the Child Support Enforcement Technician is responsible for gathering, examining, researching and compiling information needed to establish and enforce the financial and collection portion of court orders pertaining to Child Support, child care or medical obligations.
This position will work Monday through Friday, 8:00-4:30, at the Carver County Government Center in Chaska, MN.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs intake responsibilities and activities. Responds to walk-ins and phone inquiries from the public, citizens, payors, state agencies, attorneys or staff. Explains options available through the expedited process and collects DNA specimens.
- Interviews clients to obtain information in the completion of required paperwork to open and maintain Child Support, medical support, spousal maintenance or child care.
- Collects, analyzes and investigates the identity, location of absent parents and financial status of parties on a case. Makes telephone and written inquires to individuals and other agencies and reviews relevant case files.
- Resolves, updates and reconciles accounts using departmental software. Audits and reviews case files to ensure court orders are in compliance with income withholding, Child Support, childcare, medical support and other requirements.
- Collaborates with other state agencies to initiate legal actions and gather pertinent case information.
- Collects, reconciles, and prepares vouchers for payment.
- Makes referrals to and collaborates with inside/outside agencies.
- Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.
- Monitors cases for compliance with court orders and by administrative enforcement tools set forth by Federal/State laws and County policies to enforce court actions(i.e. tax intercepts, drivers license suspension, income withholding, credit bureau reporting, FIDM, recreational license suspension, etc.).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.
Preferred Qualification:
- A minimum of one year previous clerical experience or experience working with the public.
SCORED EXAMINATION PROCESS
All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored and ranked. The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks, and background investigation.
