The Opportunity
In this role, the individual will regularly communicate via email with CCSS stakeholders including staff, faculty, and students, as well as external vendors. They will serve as a liaison between Cornell units and external vendors to support the CCSS hub at Clark Hall. Additionally, they will maintain relationships with stakeholders to stay informed about key issues, projects, and achievements, incorporating feedback into space and event management processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate events and programs held in the CCSS Clark Hall space, serving as the first point of contact for the space.
- Manage scheduling, set-up, break down, and basic AV troubleshooting of meeting rooms and consulting spaces for CCSS workshops, events, and consulting sessions, as well as offerings by other affiliated units.
- Foster community-building within the space to create a vibrant hub for collaboration and learning among social scientists.
- Provide finance support and general administrative support for CCSS, including assistance with student hiring and new employee onboarding/offboarding.
- Interact regularly with staff, faculty leads, graduate and undergraduate students, and communicate via email with faculty and staff.
- Liaise with Cornell units (AV, IT, facility management, finance, etc.) and external vendors to facilitate management of the space.
What We Need
- High school diploma and 2 to 4 years of relevant administrative and event coordination experience or equivalent combination.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) and attention to detail.
- Maintain a professional demeanor, ability to multi-task effectively, maintain confidentiality, and use good judgment.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently, think critically, set priorities, and adapt to changing demands.
- Show initiative, anticipate needs, problem-solve effectively, communicate inclusively, demonstrate effective teamwork skills, execute accurate record keeping, and suggest/implement improvements in performance and programming quality.
- Advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds, promoting inclusivity and equity in all interactions.
- Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

- Experience working in an academic environment.
- Financial assistance experience.
- Working knowledge of University web-based systems such as Workday, e-Shop, Box, MS Teams, and Lyris preferred.
- Familiarity with other web-based systems like Doodle polling preferred.
