WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Key Job Accountabilities:
Plans, organizes, and directs the Asset Management operations. Oversees the development and implementation of an asset management program which incorporates a comprehensive computerized work management system.
Provides training and technical guidance in asset management principles and decision-making processes; assists department leadership in business process documentation and improvement. Serve as the Divisions leader in developing, implementing, and guiding of the
asset Management Nexgen software.
Oversees and directs staff in coordinating, analyzing, documenting, tracking, and reporting a wide variety of infrastructure condition assessments, including establishing data collection schedules, standards, and methods for use in supporting complex risk-based
decisions using accepted asset management principles and practices.
Develops the recommendations on prioritized strategic maintenance and capital project programs for city infrastructure using historical, current use, condition, replacement costs, maintenance costs and other data consistent with asset management principles and best
practices.
Maintain relationships with staff in Information Technology, GIS, and the asset management program as related to process control schemes for asset management Nexgen software.
Prepares specialized analytical reports relating to a core function of the Division's operation for use in policy development and evaluation of existing programs and initiatives
Responsible for ensuring completion of end of year reporting.
Manage and maintain the Divisions asset management system, database, quality assurance and reporting. Maintain asset listings for Waterworks infrastructure and ensure the integrity of the data is maintained.
Develop and maintain Asset Management software access control roles and permissions.
Develop and integrate predictive strategies to aid in asset replacement prioritization and assists with life cycle cost analysis.
Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Education, Experience Level, Certification Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or closely related field preferred.
2-4 years asset management specific work experience in a comparable industry, utility, or public works operations environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of Asset Management Programs (Nexgen), modern office procedures, practices and equipment including filing systems; bookkeeping; City codes, rules, policies, regulations and procedures applicable to the position; computer applications including
Excel, Word, Access and other related software.
Thorough knowledge of geographic information systems; statistical analysis principles and practices in GIS; cartographic principles; principles of database design and management.
Thorough knowledge of water distribution system.
Ability to learn the overall duties and responsibilities of the position.
Ability to deal with a wide range of persons and communicate effectively both orally and in writing using both technical and non-technical language. Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions, use logical and creative thought
processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or oral instructions, and prepare and present accurate and reliable reports containing findings and recommendations
Read, use, and understand information in multiple formats such as GIS, GPS, utility mapping, constitution plans and record drawings
Work accurately and effectively in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions. Plan to work independently with minimal supervision
Use technology and adapt to changes in technology.
Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.

The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment.
