Apertor Pharmaceuticals is seeking a talented Fermentation Associate Scientist/Senior Associate Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will be well-versed in cultivation and fermentation of non-model microbes. We are specifically seeking self-motivated, results-oriented individuals that enjoy wrangling difficult organisms as well as complex natural products while interacting closely with other scientists in a fast-moving startup environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, execute and troubleshoot benchtop scale fermentation with non-model microbes
- Perform extraction of fermentation products
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental procedure and data
Required Qualifications
- M.S. or B.S. in related field with at least 7 years (for B.S.) or 4 years (for M.S.) of relevant industrial experience
Desired Qualifications
- Hands on experience with non-model organism fermentation, preferably filamentous bacteria
- Aseptic technique
- Strong understanding of microbial physiology and central metabolism
- Experience with extraction and purification of fermentation products
- Molecular Biology, Bioengineering or Synthetic Biology experience is a plus
