Job description

ERM is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Consulting Associate, Engineer, Geologist or Scientist with up to two years’ direct experience to join our growing team in Sacramento, California. Working under the direction of Project Managers and Partners, the successful candidate will primarily work on a remediation project in Sacramento for at least the first year. Opportunities to work on other interesting site investigation and remediation projects throughout Northern California and other US locations will be available over time. This will include the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, covering the full spectrum of ERM’s services.

This is a great opportunity to work with ERM's technical experts to implement the latest engineering and remediation technologies, while building the required experience to obtain your professional registration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct field work, including remediation system operation and maintenance, sampling, drilling, well installation, remedial pilot tests, and construction oversight.
  • Support the diagnosis and repair of mechanical remediation systems and manage subcontractors doing the same.
  • Write procedures and support remediation system optimization.
  • Assist in groundwater and system performance monitoring.
  • Compile and evaluate data and assist in report preparation.
  • Prepare environmental compliance plans, permits, and reports for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, storm water, and wastewater.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities.
  • Driving to/from client or project sites is an expectation of the position.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in chemical, civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering; geology; environmental science or related degree.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established health and safety protocols.
  • Ideal candidate will have up to 1+ years of directly applicable environmental consulting or related professional experience, including willingness/interest in field assignments;
  • Previous operation and maintenance (O&M) experience highly valued.
  • Environmental field work experience and 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license, a good driving record.
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed field notes, technical data and reports a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with mechanical aptitude and hands-on trouble-shooting/problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Local candidates preferred.

For the Consulting Associate, Engineer position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $62,000– $72,422.  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above.  This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).

*Benefits Eligibility is limited to Regular employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week.  Fixed-Term employees (including flex force) who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours a week or more are    eligible for a limited benefits package.  Casual employees are NOT benefits eligible.
