Contractor Protein Sciences - Senior Research Associate/Research Scientist

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated biochemist with expertise in reporter assay development and biophysical characterization of molecular interactions to join the Protein Sciences team in San Diego.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development of new biophysical and cell-based assays to determine ligand potency and mechanism of action.

• Run existing biophysical and cell-based assays to support projects.
• Express/purify/characterize biological reagents for assay development. 

 

Requirements

• Bachelor's with 5+ years' experience, Master's with 3+ years' experience, or PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field and experience in a research laboratory. Industry experience is highly desired. 
• Expertise in biophysical and cell-based assays techniques (e.g. Reporter assays, Fluorescence Polarization, SPR).
• Experience with primer design and RNA methods desirable.
• Experience with protein expression and purification
• Demonstrated ability to produce and analyze data and communicate them effectively.
• Team oriented, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, timeline-driven work environment.
• Excellent organizational skills.

 

Pay Range

$45-$55/HR
