NGS SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE / SENIOR SCIENTIST,
ANTISENSE LEAD IDENTIFICATION/ FUNCTIONAL GENOMICS
SUMMARY:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual for the role of Senior Research Associate/Senior Scientist in our Lead Identification and Functional Genomics group. The successful candidate will join a fast-paced, highly productive, and innovative NGS Core team responsible for the expansion, refinement, and execution NGS analysis of in vitro and in vivo samples. The successful candidate is expected to be self-motivated and able to work productively in a matrixed environment. The role demands a strong biological sciences background, ideally in an automated high throughput setting. We offer a learning-rich R&D environment and encourage applications from highly motivated candidates.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the refinement and execution of high throughput NGS sample preparation and sequencing for Antisense Research
- RNA-seq and single cell analysis
- Design and perform routine and non-routine tests leading to the successful completion of developed experiments.
- Develop and perform novel NGS assays, including new methods for sample preparation, library build, or sequencing.
- Oversee NGS studies including submission, tracking, execution, and analysis, maintaining effective communication with requesters.
- Collaborate with multiple group leaders to refine objectives and prioritize development and experiments.
- Carefully interrogate the existing protocols. Design and execute molecular biology and automation experiments to improve efficiency.
- Independently analyze complex/large data sets and troubleshoot results.
- Operate and troubleshoot liquid handler automation and robotics for assay development.
- Independently design, execute, and analyze in vitro experiments.
- Provide guidance, leadership, and supervision to the team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Full-time, on-site position
- B.S./M.S./Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, biology, biochemistry, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working in an academic or industrial laboratory setting.
- Proven ability to independently execute experiments, analyze results, and design follow-up experiments.
- Intuitive problem-solving skills, with an ability to identify deviations and troubleshoot independently.
- Proficiency in advanced genomics approaches (NGS pipelines, single-cell methodologies) and cell/molecular biology techniques (nucleic acid extraction, cell and nuclear dissociation, RT-qPCR).
- Strong understanding or interest in genomics and transcriptomics, including gene expression and modulation.
- Familiarity with NCBI, UCSC genome browser, and other public databases.
- Enthusiasm for high throughput automation and its application in enhancing efficiency.
- Experience in managing large sample sets and data tracking (Excel and structured datasets), with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and project prioritization skills, adaptable to an intense work environment.
- Desired experience in leadership and team supervision.
