The Tulane National Primate Research Center (TNPRC) is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director for Clinical andResearch Medicine (ADCRM) in the Division of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). TNPRC is one of seven NIH funded National Primate Research Centers in the US and is an AAALAC International accredited facility housing approximately 5,000 nonhuman primates (NHP) of five different species. TNPRC’s research program is focused on infectious disease with a concentration on the study of AIDS, biodefense, enteric disease, NHP behavior and NHP medicine and surgery. The ADCRM is an integral member of the DVM leadership team and provides assistance, feedback, and advice to the TNPRC Associate Director (AD) and Chief Veterinary Medical Officer (CVMO). As such, the ADCRM plays a critical role in administration, development, growth management, strategic planning and master planning for the DVM. The ADCRM has shared responsibilities with other senior management personnel for financial affairs, operations, construction/renovations, planning, human resources management, and staff training and development within the Division. The ADCRM reports to the AD/CVMO.
Qualifications:
Based on experience and other qualifications, the ADCRM will have a faculty appointment in the Tulane School of Medicine at the assistant/associate professor level. The ADCRM will have demonstrated capacity for leadership, employee development, employee performance evaluation, managing a diverse workforce, goal-setting, conflict resolution, employee coaching and training for optimum performance so that effectiveness and efficiency of operations are maintained at a high level. The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to interact positively with others with an orientation toward team science, intellectual curiosity, and demonstrated initiative toward continuous improvement. Candidates should have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited institution with license to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state in the US and be a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine or equivalent board certification by an AVMA recognized specialty. Five years of progressive management and/or operations experience and experience with nonhuman primates is highly desirable.
