JOB DESCRIPTION – Assistant Director of Facility Services
DEPARTMENT: Facility Services
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Director of Facility Services
SUPERVISOR: Executive Director of Facility Services and Risk Management
SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Facility Services works closely with the Executive Director of Facility Services and staff of Facility Services as well as with appropriate campus leadership and committees to ensure safe, accessible, and functional spaces of all University owned facilities, grounds, and related physical assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
  • Works with the Executive Director of Facility Services to operate in a fast-paced, high-performance organization as a member of the leadership team providing strategic direction, facility project management, oversight of utility plant, grounds, custodial, and maintenance staff.
  • Assist with the management of the design, construction, and commissioning of projects by in-house personnel or external contractors from conceptualization through project closeout - new facility construction, building additions, conversions and modifications, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades, installation and decommissioning of equipment/systems.
  • Enforcement of LSU System, LSUA, State and Federal rules, regulations, and policies regarding facilities.
  • Leads maintenance personnel; oversees building infrastructure and systems to ensure safe, energy-efficient operations. Completes all assigned work orders and projects in various areas of the University, both independent projects and projects requiring working alongside other Facility Services personnel.
  • Assists with maintaining corrective and preventive maintenance programs for buildings, equipment, and systems to extend operability, minimize unexpected failures.
  • Plan contract services of elevator maintenance, fire extinguisher recharging, fire alarm system inspections, garbage disposal, and other routine services.
  • Assists with human resource responsibilities to include creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction, quality hiring, training, employee evaluations, and succession planning processes that encompass LSUA’s diversity commitment, compliance with university policies, legal requirements, and Civil Service guidelines.
  • Oversees all Facility Services employees when the Executive Director is unavailable or out-of-office. Considered the second in command for all day-to-day management of the Facility Services Department.
  • Works with the Executive Director to schedule and monitor maintenance through the work order system process and that all work requests are completed in a timely manner.
  • Establish communications and working relationships with college administrators, faculty, staff, student organizations, government, and private agencies to accomplish the objectives of the Facility Services Department and its work units.
  • Works with the department personnel to ensure accurate equipment inventory.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a leadership, supervisory and/or management role.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities are required.
  • Proven capacity as an innovative, entrepreneurial leader, and a compelling advocate for lifelong learning.
  • Self-Starter with ability to promote activities using supervision and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge or better of all applications in the Microsoft Office Suite.
OFFICE HOURS: Eight (8) hours per day, Monday –Friday 40 hours a week. Weekend and after hour work as needed.
