Position Description
The Seattle Police Department is actively recruiting an Administrative Specialist III within the Criminal History Team. This is a rare opening to work in a lead position for our innovative department in an environment where you can put all of your existing skills to use, while learning new techniques in a highly motivated team environment.
Under the supervision of the Criminal History Team Supervisor, you will interpret, analyze, enter, maintain, and transcribe criminal arrest records and information generated from Police personnel, King County Jail, Law Department, and the courts into the Records Management System (RMS) and disseminate confidential information. This position is responsible for processing all juvenile records and, as time allows, will assist the Criminal History Team in processing adult records. This position is also responsible for Assistant Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) duties.
Job Responsibilities
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurately interpret, analyze, enter, and transcribe confidential criminal history record information generated from bookings, citations, summons and other official documents into the Police Records Management Systems
- Research, update and modify criminal history information received from arrest documents
- Review and verify accuracy of criminal history records
- Resolve complex problems
- Retrieve and process requests for information from various Police record systems
- Serve as liaison with the King County Juvenile Court Prosecutor's office
- Seal and purge juvenile records
- Assist the TAC with signing students up for ACCESS classes and maintaining Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Awareness Training for personnel with access to criminal justice information
- Assist supervisor with assigned tasks and projects as scheduling, compiling statistics, resolve highly complex problems related to identity, conflicting case numbers and duplicate master names
- Must maintain confidentiality of information and documents
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Requires three years of clerical support experience (or a combination of education, training and/or experience which provides evidence of the ability to perform work of the class).
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic functions, procedures, and policies of the Police Department
- Knowledge of basic functions of various court systems
- Able to demonstrate successful problem-solving skills and reliable judgement
- Ability to pay attention to detail and perform repetitive tasks accurately
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Ability to perform work under the strict adherence to guidelines
Position Requirements:

The full salary range for this position is $30.09 - $33.78 per hour.
