POSITION: Administrative Assistant to the Deanof Engineering
DEPARTMENT: School of Engineering
STATUS: Full Time
Position Summary:
The Administrative Assistant to the Dean, faculty, staff, and students in the School of Engineering helps to manage, coordinate, and facilitate efficient operation of the School of Engineering. This employee provides key support to the Office of the Dean, faculty, and staff, in addition to other duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain all relevant information, files, and documents, create reports and perform daily administrative tasks such as answering the phone, and any other activities which may arise to ensure successful operation of the Deans Office
  • Prepare correspondence and other communications from the Deans Office
  • Maintain the calendar, schedule, and travel arrangements on behalf of the Dean
  • Serve as a key contact for the Deans Office and the School of Engineering
  • Conduct research, compile and type reports, and complete transcription of projects and assignments
  • Coordinate and arrange meetings, prepare agendas, record meeting notes, and type minutes
  • Assist with special projects and events
  • Manage multiple, concurrent projects and still meet strict deadlines
  • Collaborate and interact with engineering professionals
  • Organize, direct, and prioritize work appropriately
  • Manage time well and work under stressful conditions with an even temperament
  • Detail oriented and willing to work in a changing environment including researching new ways of accomplishing tasks, participate in training sessions, and be a self-starter
  • Requires working occasional evenings and weekends
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice

Education/Experience:
  • Associates or Bachelor Degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years' experience in an administrative support role, or fifteen years in lieu of a degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet
  • Familiarity with standard office equipment and its usage
  • Experience in higher education preferred
  • Broad knowledge of Campbell University policies and procedures helpful but not required

  • Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse community
  • Demonstrate tact, courtesy, discretion, and patience in dealing with faculty, staff, students, highlevel university officials, and the public
  • Communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Willingness to assist in other areas as needed and cooperate as a team player
  • This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity, and the ability to work with the Christian mission of Campbell University
