WHY THE FLATIRON HOTEL
The 71 room Flat Iron Hotel is an adaptive re-use of Asheville, North Carolina’s iconic, downtown landmark, the Flat Iron building which was erected in 1927. The new hotel within the historic Flat Iron will also include a restaurant/cafe, rooftop, speakeasy, banquet space, and shared work space.
THE ROLE
Administrative Assistants are the saving grace of our hotels and restaurants; being extremely organized and an effective communicator will allow the rest of the crew to get their jobs done well. As the Flatiron Hotel Administrative Assistant for Sales, you will handle everything from greeting visitors, answering the telephone, gathering data, compiling reports, maintaining files and preparing correspondences. Providing administrative support will allow the other sales associates to focus on revenue generating activities.
What we will ask of you:
- Provide administrative support to General Manager & Director of Sales of the Flatiron; this may include preparing paperwork (forms, reports and schedules) and anticipating needs and supplies for day-to-day operations
- Consistently answer and direct phone calls, responding to all inquiries within 24 hours with ability to organize and schedule meetings and appointments
- Input and organize invoices daily to keep the hotel and kitchen informed of their budget
- Interact with group, catering, and BT customers over the phone in order to quickly qualify potential for business.
- Greet and assist visitors.
- Provide additional administrative assistance as directed.
- Maintain the group files within the sales system for all group bookings at the property level.
Requirements for Success:
- At least 1 year of hotels, events, or hospitality required.
- Knowledge of office management systems, procedures, and proficiency in MS Office
- Ability to communicate effectively with managers, employees, and all guests
- A flexible schedule to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
- Moderate standing/walking with occasional stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, or lifting
