Legal Aid is Hiring – Development and Communications Administrative Assistant

The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland seeks dynamic and experienced Administrative Assistants to support the Development & Communications Department. Two applicants will be hired for this role.
The Administrative Assistants will support the Development & Communications Department in both routine and advanced administrative tasks, including scheduling and supporting meetings, ensuring smooth office operations, and maintaining supply inventory and electronic files. The Assistants produces correspondence, memos, and spreadsheets, prepares mailings, tracks event replies, and assists with proofreading documents. The Assistants manages ongoing database updates, reviews donor records, and develops expertise in Raiser's Edge through data entry, creating and running database reports/queries, tracks gifts, and ensures our 2,500 individual donors are appropriately acknowledged.
The Assistants provides support in outreach efforts to fulfill community legal education literature requests and assists with client-focused event promotion. The Assistants also provides support for high-profile special events and Legal Aid’s public relations efforts. The Assistants will report to either the Director or a Senior Manager of the Development and Communications Department.

The Successful Candidate will:
- Be committed to Legal Aid’s mission.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in related field or commensurate experience (such as administrative and/or research experience in nonprofits, government or libraries)
- Have 3+ years experience in administrative work (preferably non-profit fundraising or a related field)
- Be proficient in MS Office
- Be proficient in contact management databases (Raiser’s Edge knowledge strongly preferred).
- Exhibit outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
- Be organized, able to prioritize work, and able to handle multiple responsibilities.
- Employ exceptionally strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Have excellent planning, follow-up and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills to both internal staff and external partners.
- Maintains confidentiality in handling donor records and personal information.
- Be able to travel and to work some evenings, weekends and early morning hours as needed.
Compensation & Benefits: The salary range for the Development and Communications Assistant is $48,000 to $72,000. The top third of Legal Aid’s salary ranges are reserved for those with deep skill sets, long tenure, and consistent exceptional performance.
