JOB SUMMARY

This job is located in Accounting Services Division of the Finance Department within the City of Oklahoma City and typically reports to a section or division head. An employee in this classification is responsible for providing advanced administrative support for a small division or general administrative support for several work sections. Essential job functions include: coordinating various phases of programs and administrative functions in support of standard administrative procedures and departmental policy; assisting in monitoring or maintaining fiscal-related goals and objectives; performing special projects using standard data sources and formulas; and compiling and/or analyzing standard report documents. Assignments are received without explicit instruction on well defined administrative functions and work products are moderately to closely reviewed by supervisor. An Administrative Assistant may coordinate or provide work direction in support of advanced clerical work functions. The employee maintains frequent contact with departmental staff, other City administrative support staff, outside agencies and citizens to obtain or provide information on recurring situations. An employee in this classification occasionally handles problems which are non-routine or controversial in nature, and provides information requiring some explanation or interpretation of facts.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Primarily inside in a climate controlled environment.
  • Subject to sitting, standing, walking, or using a telephone for extended periods of time.
  • Subject to continuous exposure to light and glare from a computer monitor.
  • Occasional local or out-of-town travel to meetings, conferences, or seminars.
  • Occasionally required to work hours beyond normal scheduled work week.

Note : Typical City employee working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, working hours vary (may require work to begin before 8:00 a.m. and/or end beyond 5:00 p.m., and/or may require work on weekends and holidays), and are subject to change, based on the duties and location of the position and the business needs of the assigned work unit/department.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Near vision enough to read and draft documents such as written communications or reports both manually and machine generated.
  • Speech and hearing enough to communicate clearly and distinctly in person and by phone.
  • Manual and finger dexterity enough to operate office equipment such as keyboards, telephones, 10-key, etc.

Pay Method: City employees are required to receive pay electronically, either via direct deposit or pay card.

If the position accepted includes a driver license (commercial or non-commercial) Job Requirement, the City of Oklahoma City will obtain a Motor Vehicle Report for internal and external applicants.

If the position accepted is safety sensitive and/or a driving position, internal and external applicants will be provided a copy of the City of Oklahoma City's Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy prior to being directed for a drug test.

If the position accepted is cyber security sensitive, internal and external applicants will be subject to a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Interstate Identification Index (III) Fingerprint Background check. Additionally, employees in this job classification must complete Level 4 Security Awareness Training and pass an online certification test.
