Rio Grande Co. actively seeks an Accounts Payable Representative for our Denver, Colorado location. The Accounts Payable position will be responsible for monitoring the outflow of capital for the Company.
Essential Functions
- Facilitates payment of vendors, resolving discrepancies, and identifies discount opportunities and paying employee expense reports.
- Answering vendor questions regarding past due invoices, requesting stop payments and reissuing checks as needed.
- Balances prepaid accounts.
- Maintain vendor records, enter invoices and code to proper GL accounts.
- Code all utility and recurring invoices.
- Reconcile credit card statements and ensure they are paid on time.
- Calculates and reports sales tax based on paid invoices.
- Prepare, process, and distribute Accounts Payable checks on a weekly basis.
- Maintain an orderly financial filing system, general recordkeeping, distribution of mail and other administrative duties.
- Close out files on an annual basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of previous Accounts Payable experience.
- AA/AS Degree in Accounting preferred, but not required.
- Ability to prioritize and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform all mathematical functions associated with this level of responsibility, including but not limited to interest rates, discounts, taxes, etc.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and account payable
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel/Outlook)
- Ability to learn accounting system software, such as SXe
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records.
- Have a “sense of ownership” in payments being correct.
- Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative.
The hourly wage for this position is $25.00 - $30.00 with an opportunity to earn a discretionary bonus, profit sharing grant and 401(k) match. The specific hourly wage offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
