Position and Responsibilities Overview

• Assists the Accounts Payable Manager in leading AP activities and identifying/implementing process improvements and software enhancements. Performs and teaches data entry, invoice posting, and check preparation for the company. Owns vendor relationships, responds to inquiries from vendors and Assists with managing a team of up to 4 specialists.
• Leads training for the Accounts Payable staff.
• Leads development of desktop procedures and AP business processes.
• Owns development of software enhancements and integration with business.
• Recommends and documents AP policies.
• Optimizes invoice data entry, matching, posting, and check preparation.
• Drives reconciliation of vendor statements monthly.
• Reviews invoice coding for accuracy, proper approvals, and reasonableness.
• Willing to learn / knowledge of Colorado sales and use tax rules for construction.
• Calculate sales and use taxes on invoices from suppliers/vendors.
• Compiles, reviews, and files Sales and Use Tax for company.
• Maintains a positive working relationship with vendor's/supplier's accounting staff.
• Builds controls to keep sensitive information confidential.
• Must have an understanding of broader accounting functions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent job experience.
• 5+ years relevant accounting experience required.
• Receives indirect supervision, provides direct supervision to others.
• Has administrative and technical responsibilities.
• Objectives will be based on establishing guidelines, processes and operating procedures.
• Coordinates own tasks with a specific range of responsibilities and outcomes.

Minimum Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.
• Occasionally may need to reach, stoop, or kneel.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
