ABOUT THE JOB

The ACLU seeks a full-time position of Accounts Payable Clerkin the Finance Department of the ACLU's National office in New York, NY. This is a hybrid role that has in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month. 

Responsible for safeguarding the financial resources of the organization, the Finance team manages the financial activities of the National ACLU. From paying vendors to forecasting budgets, and everything in-between, we take pride in providing the resources and platform for informed financial decision-making. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, the AP Clerk provides front-line service to internal constituents and vendors, and processes information with speed and accuracy. Our ideal candidate will an exceptional attention to detail, an orientation towards being of service, and a passion for the work of the ACLU.

The responsibilities of the AP Clerk include, but are not limited to:

  • Review invoices for goods and services, verifying transactions comply with internal policies and documentation is complete
  • Process vendor payments via check, ACH or wire, including preparation and mailing of payments
  • Review and process new vendor requests, ensuring proper documentation is obtained and preventing duplicate entries in the accounting system
  • Respond to Accounts Payable related inquiries from vendors and internal staff providing a high-level of customer service
  • Prepare Accounts Payable reports for review by Accounting & Finance leadership
  • Maintain organized filing of electronic and physical Accounts Payable files
  • Complete ad hoc requests related to Accounts Payable from Accounting & Finance leadership

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience in an accounting, customer service or data entry role
  • Associates degree in accounting or comparable work experience
COMPENSATION
The ACLU values equity, transparency, and clarity in pay. Consistent with the ACLU's compensation philosophy there is a set salary for this role. The ACLU also has a locality adjustment policy that applies to salaries. The annual salary for this position is $72, 822, reflecting the salary of a position based in New York, NY. This position is subject to a hybrid schedule of two days/week or 8 days/month in-office.
