Job Summary
Accounting Clerk I reports to Director of Finance. Process payments by posting to student accounts; post miscellaneous payments, and post to department accounts. Maintain accurate cash drawer. Manage all Dual enrolled students and classes. Create and maintain collection spreadsheet for Retail Merchants.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and see. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, squat, and bend. The employee must regularly carry up to 15 pounds, and move up to 15 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, finance, or related area preferred. Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Operate office equipment, calculator, shredder, and copier.
  • Detect errors and pay close attention to details. Multi-task, solve problems, assist with students' accounts, and communicate effectively.
  • Address students, faculty, and staff in a professional manner. Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of experience handling cash, credit cards, and check transactions.
  • Knowledge of Banner and/or TouchNet is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
SALARY Depending on education and experience. Plus excellent benefits. Work Hours 40 hours a week

Create and maintain collection spreadsheet for Retail Merchants.

Create and send out three letters to each student with a balance. Verify payments to students' accounts each month. If payments are not made monthly, accounts are sent for collections every six months.

Every six months write off students' accounts in Banner that have not made payments. Update and correct spreadsheet and send to Retail Merchants

Receive inventory list of students sent to collections from Retail Merchants and verify correct amount. Update binder with new list.

After last installment date, run process to place holds on accounts. Run reports to make sure all holds are placed correctly.

Run unpaid reports before each drop date and work with Financial Aid and admissions before drop dates.

Send out text informing students that they have been dropped from their classes for non-payment.
