Overview: The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and enhancing a robust volunteer program that meets the unique needs of CAN’s mission, programs, and communities. The person in this position builds strong relationships with staff and community partners. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the full cycle of volunteer engagement. This includes assessing volunteer needs across the agency and the recruitment, onboarding, recognition, and retention of volunteers. The person in this role also works closely with the Development Team to merge volunteer and donor engagement and implement agency drives.
Benefits:
- Pay Range: $42,500-50,000 per year (commensurate on formal and informal experience)

Qualifications:
- Experience with volunteer coordination preferred. Those with transferable skills are encouraged to apply
- Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills
- Acceptable driving history required

Essential Job Duties-
A. Volunteer Needs Assessments and Recruitment
- Collaborate with site Directors at CAN locations to determine volunteer needs on a regular basis
- Participate in the Development Team. Offer donation opportunities to volunteers as appropriate and assist with the organization and implementation of drives as needed.
- Implement multiple volunteer recruitment strategies with attention to meeting the unique needs of CAN’s programs and communities
- Post volunteer recruitment messages through various outlets and keep messages up-to-date
- Build relationships with key collaborators
- Partner with team members to keep volunteer information up-to-date on CAN’s website and volunteer applications
- Coordinate and host large group volunteer projects across CAN’s locations
B. Volunteer Matching and Onboarding
- Review volunteer applications and correspond with volunteers to match their interests with current needs across the agency
- Communicate clearly with potential volunteers about CAN’s volunteer expectations and onboarding process
- Follow up with volunteers throughout the onboarding process and answer questions in a timely manner
- Connect volunteers and site staff when pre-volunteer requirements are completed
C. Volunteer Program Management
- Create volunteer program sessions for each CAN location and program in the agency’s data systems (i.e. Salesforce) at regular intervals
- Update applicable CAN systems to reflect volunteer information and schedules
- Train Directors and other applicable staff on volunteer-related topics, which may include on-site onboarding and completing volunteer attendance
- Regularly check in with staff and volunteers to ensure everyone is feeling supported
- Review volunteer attendance for completion at regular intervals to ensure data accuracy
- Gather and provide annual volunteer data to team members. This data is often included in CAN’s annual report and communications
- Attend professional development opportunities to continue building skills in volunteer coordination
D. Volunteer Recognition and Retention
- Create an impactful volunteer recognition process and implement recognition at regular intervals
- Make efforts to increase the length of time and ways in which volunteers are engaged at CAN. Explore with volunteers changes they may desire in their involvement
E. Other
- Attend staff meetings
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with team members across locations
