Volunteer Coordinator - ditto upscale resale
Position Overview:
The Volunteer Coordinator at ditto upscale resale plays a vital role in recruiting, scheduling, and coordinating volunteers to fill essential positions within our store. Working closely with the Director, the Coordinator will actively engage with the community, promote our mission, and contribute to the development and maintenance of a volunteer database and scheduling system. The role involves fostering collaboration, learning about various store positions, and implementing effective volunteer management processes in a Christ-centered environment.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and collaborative

- Ability to recruit new volunteers creatively
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) or Google Workspace and email communications
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Recruitment and Coordination:
- Actively recruit, schedule, and coordinate volunteers for various positions at ditto
- Develop and maintain a volunteer database and basic scheduling system in collaboration with the Store Director and existing volunteers
- Work closely with store managers to understand position requirements, scheduling needs and volunteer capacity
- Coordinate, schedule, plan and lead volunteer workgroups as needed
Knowledge and Collaboration:
- Possess knowledge of Holland and Zeeland Christian communities and work within those systems
- Passionate about Ditto's mission and the local Christian education community
- Willingness to learn about thrift store operations and work directly with managers and the Store Director
- Collaborate with teams to create better processes and enhance volunteer engagement
Flexibility and Time Commitment:
- Fairly flexible schedule with a willingness to invest more time upfront to understand store operations
- Regular hours at the thrift store to stay connected with staff and volunteers
- Attendance at specific meetings, on-site and off-site events, or training may be required
- Occasional evening hours may be needed for work-group functions
Expectations for Volunteer Engagement:
- Increase the number of active volunteers
- Implement a tracking system for volunteers and volunteer hours
- Establish a general schedule for volunteer shifts, including departmental assignments
- Work closely with managers to meet store needs
- Create a donation door schedule to ensure donors are greeted and served effectively
Training and Onboarding:
- Comprehensive hands-on training involving substantial time to understand store processes and volunteer needs
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to learn about their roles
- Engage in continuous learning and improvement
