The Colombiere Center in Clarkston MI is actively looking for an Activities and Volunteer coordinator.

- Base wage $21.16 an hour. **This position is eligible for pay increases after 6 months and 1 year of employment based on passing proficiency benchmarks.**

POSITION AVAILABLE:
Full Time-80 hours bi-weekly
The Activities and Volunteer Coordinator works under the Director of Nursing promoting the overall well being of each retired Jesuit priest assigned to Colombiere Center by developing and coordinating activities to attain highest level of cognitive, social and relationship centered functions in a safe manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Meets with all including new residents, establishes relationships and assesses each Jesuit’s personal and social needs. Provides emotional support for resident needs. Prepares written activity assessments and reassesses with care planning schedule.
2. Plan, purchase and Implement internal and external activities that are held for the community members, focus is on maintaining cognitive and psychosocial loss prevention. While adhering to the budget.
3. Supervises and evaluates the Activities Assistant and Activities Driver.
4. Assists the Assistant Superior or House Minister with Jesuits non-healthcare purchases if needed.
5. Assist the Superior with Activities and projects that are held in the community and outside Colombiere Center.
6. Attend and participate in designated meetings as directed by the Director of Nursing.
7. Recruits, screens, interviews, schedules and supervises volunteers—offers guidance to volunteers, acts as a liaison between volunteers, staff and Jesuits.
8. Develops written procedures for volunteer program and provides documented orientation training for all volunteers, meets annually in a group meeting.
9. Updates skills and knowledge by attending workshops and in services and networks with other professionals, and submits documentation.
10. Creates a monthly calendar of events for the Jesuit community.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS [Education/Skills/Abilities]:
1. Must possess high school diploma. College graduate with a minimum of a 2-year degree in related field of recreation therapy or social work is preferred.
2. Minimum of two years' experience in long-term care or equivalent, with an understanding of dementia or cognitively impaired.
3. Prefer activities training or experience.
4. Microsoft word, excel competent.
5. Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal and listening skills.
6. Ability to cooperate with, work with, and meet the needs of those who may be angry, confused, hostile or who display a variety of other emotional states, as well as of those who are critically ill.
7. Must possess a valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including bending, pulling, pushing, walking and lifting.
2. Occasionally required to drive a 13-passenger van with a lift and/or transport Jesuits with walking difficulties or who may be confined to a wheelchair to various locations. This demands pushing and loading men into wheelchairs.
3. Hours usually Monday through Friday.
4. Occasionally expected to work on weekends or late evenings to attend special events or work with volunteers.
5. Frequent daily contact with Jesuits presents a minimal risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
6. At times, required to work outdoors during special events, etc.
