Under the direction of the SVP, Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Vice President, Information Technology is responsible for providing leadership for the cross-functional management of information and technology across the enterprise. The incumbent leads functions including IT strategy, governance, organizational and operational model development, IT Finance and enterprise change management.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner with the CIO to provide IT Strategy and direction for the enterprise.
- Drive focus and prioritization within the department through strategic planning and governance of principles and processes.
- Manage the development and maintenance of IT policies, procedures, methodologies, governance and performance management metrics.
- Collaborate with CIO and Senior Leadership Team to provide broad insight into IT domains and capabilities to support enterprise-wide business decisions.
- Establish and implement continuous-improvement programs for the IT organization.
- Manage the development and performance of the IT budget including cost optimization and cost structure.
- Lead efforts to improve operational efficiency & service delivery across the IT organization.
- Maintain knowledge of new market trends and innovations in technology and assess current state of operational systems to ensure continued viability or replacement plans are in place.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology or related field is required.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in IT and/or Business is required. Insurance industry experience is preferable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead at the highest level of the organization by bringing forward new ideas, concepts, systems through leadership and strong written and verbal communication with the ability to develop and communicate the IT vision and inspire and motivate staff.
- Ability to handle detailed, complex concepts and problems.
- Possess an aptitude consistent with securing information, analyzing and making high level executive decisions affecting all Divisions/Departments of the organization.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to develop and execute strategic plans.
- Experience influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders is required.
- Ability to improve operational efficiency, service delivery and information management across the organization.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms.
Working Conditions:
- Normal office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise and temperature variations.
- Willingness to travel among company sites as needed.
- Will be required to stand and/or sit for extended periods.
- Will be required to work with a Video Display Terminal.
- May be required to do occasional reaching and bending.
- May be required to occasionally exert physical effort (lifting/carrying) using appropriate equipment if needed.
- Full-time is required.
