Thomas College invites applications for the position of VP of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The VP of Finance and CFO is responsible for providing leadership and management of the College's financial, accounting, student financial services and other business-related activities including cash management, budget management, risk management, regulatory compliance, contract and grant administration, investment management, debt management, financial analysis, and other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The VP & Chief Financial Officer reports to the COO of the College and as a member of the President's Council participates in setting institutional strategic direction and policy; and serves in an advisory and support capacity to the President, COO, Provost, Vice Presidents and Deans on financial, administrative, human resources, and budgetary matters. The VP & CFO will promote the college's diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) statement where applicable.
The VP of Finance & CFO will serve as an advisor to the President, COO, Provost, Vice Presidents, and department managers with financial and business-related matters and legal and financial/security risk exposures, including the review of all contracts in a manner that promotes financial prudence and responsibility. They will manage and prepare an annual budget for Board approval and develop a multi-year financial forecast in alignment with the College's long-range strategic plan. The VP of Finance/CFO will develop models, analyze trends and ratios, and monitor and manage variances pertaining to the College budget and business proposals. Additionally, they will interpret financial data and reports and assess operational results for senior management and the Board.
The VP of Finance & CFO position requires substantive and progressively responsible management experience in finance, accounting and related areas of law, government policy and regulation. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership, managerial, organizational, planning, relevant software application experience and analytical skills. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively and the ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long-range goals are also requirements of the position.
A CPA, MBA and/or equivalent combination of education and 10 years of progressively responsible experience, including 7 years of financial management experience are required. Experience in Higher Education and fund accounting preferred.
