The Vice President of the Orthopedic Service Line and Practice Operations serves a dual leadership role for MaineHealth and MaineHealth Medical Group. In collaboration with the Service Line physician dyad partner, this Vice President co-leads the MaineHealth system Orthopedic Service Line. The Vice President is also a senior administrator for the MaineHealth Medical Group (MHMG) orthopedic ambulatory practices, serving as a dyad partner to the orthopedic senior medical director and acting as a member of the MHMG management team.
The Orthopedic Service Line dyad has overall accountability for advancing and supporting all aspects of the clinical, academic, and research activity for the orthopedic enterprise. Primary accountabilities include: leading strategic planning efforts, expanding and enhancing access to care, fostering program development and alignment and execution on quality and value initiatives. In addition, the Orthopedic Service Line dyad will have operational oversight and accountability for key disease site specific clinical and supportive care programs. The Vice President will also be charged with leading and implementing initiatives to support the delivery of care across the continuum in a highly coordinated fashion, as well as the longitudinal alignment of strategies, programs, and services across vertical business units.
The Orthopedic Service LineVice President will have a strong, highly aligned and collaborative partnership with MHMG and will integrate with the MHMG dyads through both system and regional leadership team structures.
In addition, the Orthopedic Service LineVice President is responsible for collaborative working relationships with community-based practices and partners, MaineHealth members and MaineHealth affiliates in identifying growth strategies, advancing care models focused on decreasing variation in care, optimizing quality outcomes and improving access to services. The Vice President is also on point in supporting meaningful relationships with quaternary partners to insure access to highly specialized services.
The Vice President works closely with MHMG leadership to ensure outstanding organizational results in the four key areas of clinical quality, service excellence, financial stewardship and care team engagement. This position executes MaineHealth system and MHMG strategies that reflect shared priorities for clinical effectiveness and financial performance. The Vice President will proactively develop and hardwire operating processes and systems in order to meet objectives. This position will drive reduction in variation of process and outcomes between clinical locations and implement standards and a consistent experience for patients. The Vice President is responsible for ensuring compliance with Joint Commission standards, local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
The Vice PresidentOrthopedic Service Line and Practice Operations has a dual, direct reporting relationship with the Chief Operating Officer for MaineHealth and the MHMG Regional Vice President of Operations, Southern Region. The position has a matrix direct reporting relationship with the MaineHealth Regional Presidents.
Required Minimum Knowledge/Experience:
1. Five years of progressive senior administrative leadership experience directly in health care, preferably Orthopedics.
2. Graduate degree in related field (MBA, MHA, RN, MA or MS).
3. Excellent interpersonal skills; experience in working and collaborating closely with more senior management and physician leadership, and community-based agencies and partners.
4. Demonstrated supervisory, management and collaboration skills, with physicians, nurses and the broader multidisciplinary team.
5. Proven experience successfully implementing and leading change and building relationships and trust across the continuum in a complex health care environment.
6. Demonstrated strong financial and resource management skills and a thorough understanding of the business side of healthcare delivery.
