- Interact with governmental organizations who deal with technical policy surrounding Honda's environmentally oriented products, services, and businesses.
- Organizations include: California Energy Commission, California Public Utilities Commission, California Air Resources Board, and equivalent regulatory and policy entities throughout the US and Canada.
- Regulations and policies that may be affected by this engagement include Carbon Pricing, Low Carbon Fuel Standards, Net Energy Meetering regulations, Sub-metering regulations, Residential EV Charging, Public EV Charging, Distributed Energy Resource, Energy Storage, Solar PV, Heat Pumps
- Technical Policy Engagement - NGOs
- Interact with and administer the membership agreements of non-governmental organizations who deal with technical policy surrounding Honda's environmentally oriented products, services, and businesses.
- Organizations include: Vehicle-Grid Integration Council (VGIC), California Electric Transportation Coalition (CalETC), Hydrogen Fuel Cell Partnership, California Energy Storage Alliance, California Green Hydrogen Coalition, Clean Energy Buyers Alliance, World Resource Institute, etc.
- Policy Research
- Administer Honda's various research contracts with Universities and think-tanks and lead the development of research themes.
- UC Davis STEPS+ Program, UC Davis 3 Revolutions Program, Center for Automotive Research, National Renewable Energy Labs, Interstate Renewable Energy Council, Bloomberg New Energy Finance, etc.
- Communication
- Communicate prolifically throughout Honda to create understanding and awareness and concensus about the policies where Honda will need to engage, and to synthesize the risks and opportunities that result from these policies.
- Constituencies and collaborators include: Honda Motor, Honda R&D, AHM Product Regulatory Office, AHM Government Relations, AHM Public Relations, AHM Corporate Social Responsibility, AHM Corporate Communications, AHM Public Relations, AHM Sustainability and Business Development Business Unit, and all other relevant Business Units at AHM.
- Research and Analysis
- Conduct research and analysis under the direction of Division Leads or Project Teams to contribute towards achieving team goals. Attend events and report back the content that was presented, collecting the presentations and sending them to interested team members. Conduct research and analysis about topics of interest towards the Divison's strategy, and keep updated records of frequently requested topics (for example, "What is the direction of state fuels regulations such as Low Carbon Fuel Standard?", "Which is better: Investments in DC Fast Charging or Multi-Family L2 Charging?")
- Bachelor's degree in business, business administration, economics, finance, political science, or equivalent required
- Graduate degree strongly preferred
- Masters degree with highly relevant project and thesis content
- Or 3+ or more years working in a technical policy analysis or policy development role in academia or government
- Or 5+ years working in a utility, resource aggregator, nGO, or equivalent
- Knowledge of Honda operations - planning, R&D, manufacturing, sales, quality, service, and customer support is preferred
