Would you like to be part of a talented and diverse California Air Resources Board (CARB) team that provides scientific expertise on health impacts of air pollution for the Board’s efforts? If you have a strong background in epidemiology or a related health science, and demonstrated knowledge of statistical analysis, and are committed to helping CARB better understand, evaluate, and communicate the broader benefits of air pollution control efforts, this position is for you. The Air Pollution Specialist (APS) position is located within the Health and Ecosystem Assessment Section (HEAS) in Research Division’s Health and Exposure Assessment Branch. The HEAS provides scientific and technical support for the Board’s efforts to achieve statewide air pollution and climate goals.

This rewarding and challenging position is responsible for evaluating a broad range of air pollution impacts on health by using various methodologies and research projects to support the Board’s regulations and programs. This work includes planning and conducting critical reviews of scientific research including environmental justice to be used as the basis of many of CARB’s air pollution and climate change regulatory activities. In addition, the successful candidate will be performing the scientific and administrative oversight of health effects research contracts. It is also an essential component of this position to communicate effectively about health effects in writing or verbal presentation to a wide range of audiences including internal staff, other state agencies, and the public through reports, correspondence, meetings, and workgroups.

You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement.
