Under the direction of the Program and Project Supervisor (PPS) of the Electric Rates Section of the Customer Generation, Demand Response and Electric Rates (CGDRER) Branch of the Energy Division, the incumbent will serve as a senior Pricing and Policy Analyst, strategist, and industry thought leader in retail electricity pricing programs and demand flexibility frameworks. In this advisory and leadership role, the incumbent will be responsible for performing and directing complex economic analysis, technical research and program implementation in retail rate design and program strategy to promote electrification, decarbonization, grid reliability, and customer equity. More specifically, the incumbent will manage complex rulemaking and ratesetting proceedings and programs that advance the statewide deployment of alternative dynamic pricing structures, including distributed energy resources (DERs) compensation and impacts on grid resource optimization. These responsibilities will include evaluating policy and program design alternatives, crafting recommendations, and delivering written and verbal briefings to management, Administrative Law Judges (ALJ), Commissioners, and other decision-makers. Other responsibilities will involve the management and coordination of multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders, including regulated utilities, program administrators, parties, market actors, the California Air Resources Board and the California Energy Commission.
