Program dates: June 3rd - August 9th (10 weeks)
Location: This position will be fully remote. Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.
Weekly schedule: 28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-5:00pm
Pay rate: $16/hour
The Storey Publishing design team is seeking a remote summer intern who's eager to learn about the publishing industry. This intern will work closely with the design team over the summer to learn the ins and outs of the collaboration between the design and editorial process in publishing.
To enhance your work experience, we offer educational sessions featuring speakers from all departments of the company as well as networking and career development opportunities.
Graphic Design Intern Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with and assist the Art Directors on all phases of the book from the creative concepting to design layouts to production
- Tasks include, but not limited to designing back covers, designing icons and spot illustrations for books, making book corrections, preparing book design comps, and prepping for photoshoots or illustration plans
- Design pre-sample pages for edit presentations
- Attend weekly progress meetings with design and editorial
Requirements
- Graphic Design major preferred
- Basic knowledge of layouts, typography, line composition, color, and other graphic design fundamentals
- Experience with InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Strong creative and analytical skills and a love of typography
- Compelling portfolio of graphic design work
- Enthusiasm for books and topics Storey publishes
