Interior Designer Summer Intern 2024

SMMA is seeking an Interior Design Intern to join our team for the 2024 Summer interns.

The candidate will be an integral part of active project teams, getting hands-on experience and interacting with interns from other disciplines. You will be encouraged to provide new ideas and share knowledge that will advance the firm's mission and your professional career.
Key Responsibilities may include:

• Work with Intermediate and Senior Interior Designers throughout the building design process, including programming, presentation materials, schematic design, and renderings.
• Provides design support to project team members which may include colored plans, presentation packages (including renderings), finish material boards and furniture packages.
• Assists in the field surveying of client spaces and project job sites.
• Assists with color/finish/material and furniture specifications research.
• Apply basic elements and principles of design including form, scale, color, texture, pattern, light, balance, and proportion.
• Responsible for organizing and updating the Interiors Materials Library.
• Adheres to firm and project goals of excellence in design, execution, and sustainability.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Enrollment within an accredited Bachelor's in Interior Design program
• Understanding of interior design theory
• Experience with Revit, Sketch Up, Enscape, Adobe Office Suite and Microsoft Suite
• Portfolio of work displaying creative design intuition and thoughtful development of ideas
• Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills
• Able to draw ideas quickly and offer critique in a group setting
• Organizational and time management skills to be able to handle multiple project responsibilities
• Related professional work experience is appreciated
• Curious, eager to learn, and proactive
