Sr. Production Planner

Merle Norman Cosmetics, Inc. is a company that manufactures a full line of skin care, color and makeup products. The Sr. Planner develops and executes production plan, schedules work orders for assigned production lines/programs to produce the appropriate amount of product to balance forecast and efficiency with sufficient safety stock to avoid out of stock situations. The Sr. Planner interfaces with all appropriate departments (e.g., Compounding, Production, Purchasing Marketing) to coordinate schedules, status and needs in a timely manner.

Essential Duties 

• Using Syspro ERP system, review the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and make necessary adjustments to the Build Schedule to maintain necessary inventory targets and service levels.
• Maintain safety stocks, batch sizes, lead times and other pertinent planning parameters.
• Analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) suggestion, revise accordingly, and issue jobs to Production.
• Be able to communicate and alert other Production Planners and Purchasing dept. when changes to the production plan require raw materials and components to be expedited.
• Track the progress of jobs as they flow through the production process to ensure they are produced on time.
• Be able to recognize when raw material shortages, component shortages, or capacity constraints in Production may jeopardize achieving inventory goals and recommend solutions to all concerned.
• Analyze past sales versus future forecasts and report forecast inaccuracies to Marketing.
• Coordinate and plan the launch of new products with appropriate timelines and contingency plans.
• Prepare full impact analysis for each change in product composition or when a product is considered for discontinuation to determine financial impact and optimal time for change to reduce obsolescence.
