Job Purpose
The Production Planner manages the production, outside services scheduling, and timelines of the production process to ensure customer product delivery expectations are met. Monitors material and equipment availability and regularly communicate updates to stakeholders. Works closely with Project Managers and Operations team to provide updated scheduling status and serve as an escalation coordinator. Request Ad-hoc Overtime requirement, quote, track, and validate blanket PO coverage and usage.
Duties and responsibilities
- Monitors and reprioritizes in a timely manner to ensure no impact to daily shipping performance.
- Manage, track, and publish daily builds status.
- Drive factory to resolve forecast vs. commit gaps.
- Escalation of overtime requirements as needed.
- Report critical issues to the Project Manager.
- Monitor components shortage arrival dates, and work with cross functional teams to close the schedule accordingly.
- Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and factory metrics including On-Time Delivery, Capacity Utilization, Cycle Time, and Idle Time.
- Provides training as needed to others.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- 4-year bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred, or 3+ years’ experience in production planning role.
- Proficient understanding of IPC Standard, Ability to interpret IPC and customer supplied specifications.
- Ability to multi-task and shift gears based upon priority orders and customer requirements.
- Critical attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office - Excel/Word)
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English to the degree necessary to perform the job.
- Readily accepts direction and additional responsibilities.
- Excellent organizational skills, good written and oral communication skills
- Mathematics and statistical skills.
- Firm understanding of PCBA processes.
- ERP experience.
- Ability to perform work accurately and quickly.
- High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
