Work Arrangements: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Sunnyvale three times per week.

General Motors is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Sr. Manager of Software Engineering, Vehicle User Interface (UI). As a global leader in the automotive industry, General Motors is committed to delivering high-quality vehicles that exceed customer expectations. The Sr. Manager of Software Engineering, Vehicle UI Frameworks will play a critical role in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and durability, with a specific focus on user interface software and other types of interactions in the in-vehicle software.

What You'll Do

• Help shape a technical roadmap for in-vehicle software, evaluating options for our next generation platforms.
• Lead an engineering team building software with quality and predictability.
• Collaborate closely with UX designers and product managers to capture requirements.
• Develop and enhance processes where needed.
• Collaborate across the organization to identify dependencies.
• Build an effective engineering team, continually growing the skills of team members and recruiting talent to ensure we have domain specific knowledge.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
• 15 years of experience in software development
• 5 years of team leadership
• Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Strong, full stack knowledge of application and OS software.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Expertise in managing and leading complex projects and assignments
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in an action-oriented decision-making environment
• Must plan to anticipate risks associated with projects/tasks and have a plan to mitigate the risks in highly visible environments
