Adult Ministry: Full time, Exempt, Pastor

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Responsible for the spiritual development of adults at Bent Tree focusing on women and families with young children by identifying, shepherding and equipping leaders.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Considerable understanding of the Bible and Indwelling Christ theology
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills to diverse audiences (size, demographic and spiritual maturity)
  • Ability to recruit, equip, disciple, coach, and release leaders for ministry
  • Experienced in mobilizing servants to meet various needs in the church and surrounding community
  • Possess the ability to use appropriate judgment, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain healthy and motivating relationships with direct reports, supervisors, coworkers, and volunteers
  • Possess a high level of initiative and follow-through
  • Ability to learn and utilize internal database and project management systems
  • Well-organized with good time management and project management abilities

DUTIES

  • Develop and oversee ministry and spiritual formation strategies for adult women in and around Bent Tree.
  • Develop, equip, and lead small group leader development through vision casting with the New Covenant emphasis and Indwelling Christ reality.
  • Partner with Adult Ministry Team to implement strategy for spiritual mentorship among adults at Bent Tree.
  • Partner with Adult Ministry Team to implement strategy for marriages (young families, blended families, new families, etc.) among adults at Bent Tree.
  • Provide biblical teaching, aligned with Bent Tree’s beliefs and doctrine in a variety of settings including Bent Tree services.
  • Provide strategic mid-level gatherings to help adults take their next step with Jesus and the church.
  • Continually assess the needs of adults and partner with staff and leaders to develop contextual discipleship strategies.
  • Meet with the Adult Ministry Team regularly.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • College Degree
  • Bible or Seminary Training preferred
  • Previous experience in Adult Ministry or Christian education in a leadership role and have completed an undergraduate degree or work experience equivalence in this field.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PASTORS

  • Be in wholehearted agreement with Bent Tree’s Statement of Faith.
  • Perform sacerdotal functions as needed: communion, funerals, weddings, baptisms, etc.
  • Perform duties revolving around ongoing shepherding and pastoral care: pastoral counseling, hospital visits, conflict resolution, marriage counseling, marriage prep sessions, benevolence counseling, etc., as needed.
  • Model Staff Values by operating In Humility (Philippians 2:3-8), On Mission (Matthew 28:18-20), and With Each Other (Hebrews 10:19-25).
  • Bent Tree Bible Fellowship member or willing to become one as a condition of employment.
  • Active, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Be licensed or ordained by Bent Tree.
  • Work Sunday Thursday and special events as needed
